Warp is a modern AI-powered terminal and agentic development environment. It supports two rule types: Global Rules (via Warp Drive > Personal > Rules, apply across all projects) and Project Rules (stored as AGENTS.md or WARP.md in codebase). Warp also reads other tools' instruction files: CLAUDE.md, .cursorrules, AGENT.md, GEMINI.md, .clinerules, .windsurfrules, and .github/copilot-instructions.md. Use /init command to auto-generate AGENTS.md. Features Agent Mode with Pair and Dispatch modes. Now includes the Oz orchestration platform with scheduled agents and skills. As of March 5, 2026, AGENTS.md is the primary rules file over WARP.md. Supports MCP auto-detection from codex, a skills system via `/{skill-name}` commands, and `/init` for auto-generating AGENTS.md from project context.
