DESCRIPTION

Void is an open-source alternative to Cursor, built as a VS Code fork with AI features including inline editing, chat, and code generation. Development paused since June 2025; MCP support was added in the final v1.4.1 release. It uses .void/rules/ directory for project-level rules with optional YAML frontmatter for description, globs, priority, and auto_apply flags. Also supports legacy .voidrules single file with graceful fallback. Rules can be organized into subdirectories and support three application types: always applied, context-sensitive (based on file patterns), and on-demand.
