Uses Nix-based workspace configuration for reproducible development environments with system packages, extensions, and preview configuration. Supports MCP server integration via .idx/mcp.json for extending agent capabilities. Supports stable-24.11 Nix channel alongside older options. Gemini CLI comes preinstalled in workspaces, so GEMINI.md context files work inside the Firebase Studio terminal.
