DESCRIPTION

OpenAI Codex CLI (v0.115.0+) is a terminal-based coding agent that uses AGENTS.md files for project instructions and ~/.codex/config.toml for user settings. It supports hierarchical file discovery from the working directory up to the project root, concatenating all found files. Codex also supports agent skills via .agents/skills/ directories and MCP server configuration in config.toml. Features a permission-profile config language with split filesystem/network sandbox policies, new hook events (SessionStart, Stop), a plugin system with marketplace, and Smart Approvals via guardian subagents. Includes a `features` subcommand for persistent feature flags and uses Bubblewrap as the default Linux sandbox.
